Point Lobos - Monterey Peninsula, California

A couple weeks ago my family went to Monterey, California to visit my grandfather. For me it was a pilgrimage to my past. I went there frequently as a child, but due to a parting of ways in my family, I haven't been back for twelve years. It was very healing to return. The people I love have grown, changed or passed on, which is sad because I missed it, but the land is steeped in familiar memories for me. Cypress trees, fisherman's wharf, cannery row, misty overcast skies, Dennis the Menace park... all staples of my childhood.

The images here are from Point Lobos State Reserve, where I used to go on hikes with my dad and grandfather.

Manti Homes

Some old homes in Manti that I noticed while at the park with my wife and sister. And, my first color post! Color is a bit scary for me...

For Memorial Day, the family had a picnic up in Ephraim Canyon. Heres some shots I took.

Manti Cemetery

Manti Cemetery, across the street from the Manti LDS Temple, has a lot of very interesting old pioneer headstones.

Ephraim

Welcome to my new blog. I like taking pictures, but I don't consider myself a photographer. I don't want my pictures to be perfect, nor do I care to take the time to read my camera manual. I enjoy it being just a hobby/pastime/stress reliever. What I do want to do is capture a moment - a raw, personal emotion. I like photography, and I hope you enjoy my pictures.
